This device is a specialized tool for the professional technician that really only does one thing... it induces a set load (.1A to 2.4A, 3.5A peak, at 5.5 volts DC) on a USB power supply. It's built like a Abrams tank, with all metal construction, most of which is a heat sink. Operation is simple: just plug a power source into the inducer using the supplied USB cable (or your own) and using the "+" and "-" buttons, select the amperage you want the unit to draw in .1A increments. The display shows the amperage or the voltage, which can be toggled back and forth with a button dedicated to that task. - Tim D.

This device is like that special wrench that you find out is the only tool that will work for what you need, but you don't happen to have. I can't see casual users needing this device but professional engineers, Quality Assurance testers (my field), and serious hobbyist like folks working with robotics, etc. will find it very useful to be able to test actual power supplied by USB power sources under various load - Andew B.
